CASA
advocates for our community's most vulnerable children.

So, what exactly is CASA?

CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) is a nonprofit organization committed to making a positive impact on the lives of children removed from their families and placed in foster care due to abuse or neglect.  Our volunteers are screened and trained to gather information and report to the juvenile court concerning the needs of each child - assisting the court in making difficult decisions to serve the best interests of each child.

The primary responsibilities of a CASA include the following:

  • Maintain a consistent and regular visiting schedule (at least monthly) with the child(ren)
  • Gather information from review of documents / records, interviews with the child(ren), family members, and others pertinent to the case
  • Monitor case plans and court orders to ensure that there are no deviations from what the court has ordered
  • Represent the child in meetings with schools, counselors, and others
  • Prepare and submit written reports to the court in preparation for all court hearings.
  • Attend all court hearings and be prepared to answer questions and advocate for the child(ren).
  • Seek cooperative solutions among individuals and organizations involved with the case.
